The Cooler Master’s Hyper 212 Plus was the biggest surprise of this comparison. With its heat pipes contact the CPU directly, this cooler drives the temperature as low as possible. Furthermore this Hyper 212 Plus supports all major sockets. In terms on price performance we can’t find better.

We’ve seen a spate of topperforming air coolers in the past few months, as nearly every manufacturer hops on the skyscraperdesign bandwagon, and Cooler Master’s entry is right up there with the best we’ve tested. And at $30 from Cooler Master’s online store, it’s dirt cheap. For that price, you really can’t go wrong with this cooler.
Hyper 212 Plus gets a verdict “10” and a “Kick Ass” award!

Put up against some stiff competition, we saw the Coolermaster 212 Plus hold its on. Yes, it did not beat out all the coolers we put it up against, but it did do very well. Let's remeber, most of those coolers cost almost $20 more than the 212 Plus and are thought by some to be the best on the market. At less than $40, the 212 Plus is a fine stock cooler replacement and is worth every nickel paid for it.
Ease of installation is another reason for buying this cooler. The cooler comes with very few accessories and still supports all current sockets from AMD and Intel.

If you need a cooler for your new 1156 Core i5/i7 CPU, we recommend both the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus and the Hyper TX3. Each of these are impressive and up to task, and while each have their differences, both are great products and deserve serious consideration for your purchase shortlist.

When it comes to cooling your CPU efficiently and quietly, Cooler Master is the company to turn to. We saw Hyper 212 Plus quietly eclipse the stock cooler on both the dual and tri core Phenom IIs – overclocked as far as they can go, given the overvoltage used in each case – up to +.2V for 720 X3 which allowed it to match 550 X2 in speed but at a much lower extra core voltage (+.1).

Any way I look at the Hyper 212 Plus, I come up with nothing but good things to say. The redesign is a bit on the plain side, but the cooler shows real potential. For those willing to strap a couple of fans this cooler can start to pull into the premium cooler performance levels. While I won’t say it’s going to hit a specific temperature, with a 58 degree load temperature as the cooler is shipped, dual fans can drop results a few more degrees. Most e-tailers are under the $30 USD mark, plus shipping. Even if you have to add a couple $10 fans in the mix, you could get near premium cooler performance for near $30 less than say a TRUE or a Thor Hammer - both prices based on the assumption you are buying a fan to go along with it.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a package containing the Hyper 212 Plus and Hyper TX3, both of which prominently tout LGA 1156/1366 compatibility (not to mention AM3 support). According to the company's Website, the "Hyper 212 Plus is Cooler Master's first cooler to be equipped with an all-in-one mounting solution that includes LGA 1156 and 1366. Direct Contact heat-pipe is now also utilized in this latest update."

If you happen to have an energy efficient processor (85W or 65W TDP) you'll get the best of both worlds by running the Hyper 212 Plus at reduced fan speeds where operation is essentially silent. In any event, the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus is an economical and well performing tower heatsink which is suitable for Intel 775 Core 2 Duo/Core i7 and AMD Phenom II processor. Recommended.

There's a lot to like about the Hyper 212 Plus: Heat-pipe Direct Touch technology, twin 120mm fan support, and a high-pressure bolt-through mounting clip system. For once it appears that Cooler Master is completely serious about enthusiast air cooling; especially overclockers on a budget. As of August 2009 the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus model RR-B10-212P-GP was available at NewEgg for $29.99. Aside from the Intel LGA1366 platform we're testing on for this article, the Hyper 212 Plus supports the new Intel LGA1156 and older LGA775 sockets as well as AMD AM3/AM2/940/939 sockets.

The Hyper 212+ CPU cooler performed quite well. Not staggering performance like we have seen with other CPU cooler offerings, but the other offerings run in the 60USD range versus this CPU cooler having a price point of around 30 USD. This CPU cooler fits perfect for those who need a better CPU cooler, but cannot afford the much more expensive CPU coolers out there, or for those who want a quiet CPU cooler for their HTPC computers. Of coarse you will have to use at least a mid sized tower for use with this CPU cooler.

Cooler Master makes a good show. The Hyper 212 Plus Cooler does a great job with a single cooling fan attached or going all out with two. With the single though, we liked the tower set up and the relative silence of its operation. Build quality was the norm from Cooler Master; excellent.
The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Cooler is a great product worthy of being on a short list for your next build.

Overall the Hyper 212 Plus did very well in our tests. Although I wanted to, my motherboard would not allow me to overclock any more than 3.0Ghz, so unfortunately I do not have any temperature results for a more extreme overclock. Either way, I am very happy with this cooler. This cooler is great because it is compatible with a very wide array of CPUs; it cools well.. and it is a GREAT deal. No other coolers available in the price range (MSRP $29.99) can compete wit the Hyper 212 Plus.

So overall we like what we see very much. Priced at roughly 30 EUR / 35 USD you'll get a lot of cooling performance and an easy to use and install CPU cooler. There really is very little wrong with this product, and as such it comes very much recommended by Guru3D.com.

Overall I was most impressed with the performance of this mid range heatsink compared to high end heatsinks from Cooler Master, Noctua, and Thermalright. Although it didn’t outperform any of the heatsinks we tested it against, just being close in performance at a price of $29.99 the Hyper 212 Plus is an amazing value. With its biggest fault being difficult to install I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the 212 Hyper Plus to anyone who is looking for near high end performance at budget prices.

Cooler Master has a very well performing heatsink in the Hyper 212 Plus. With a price point of only $29.99, you get a cooler that is capable of handling a highly overclocked Core i7 920 D0 out of the box. We all know, or should by now, that current Core i7 processors are heat monsters. What the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus is able to do in regard to that, is impressive. This heatsink will do rather well on the upcoming Core i5/i7 processors made for the P55/57 platforms and all of the AMD CPU sockets supported. We give cudos to Cooler Master for making an affordable and decent heatsink that won't break the bank in these difficult financial times.

As we saw in the performance evaluation sections, the Hyper 212 PLUS has exceptional cooling potential. However, we really do wish Cooler Master had gone with four 8mm heatpipes instead of the smaller ones found on this cooler. As good as the numbers were, we did see that it may have maxed out at the top end of the i7 overclocking tests. This is why the Prolimatech was able to overtake it while sporting a much slower fan. Don't get us wrong as this cooler has awesome potential and will satisfy most of the enthusiast community. Even at 3.8GHZ the average temperature of the fire-breathing i7 920 CPU was relatively cool and the Hyper's performance was only inferior to the best of the best of the best.
